Swiss chard rebooting

It was unexpectedly sunny when I woke up this morning and I decided to resurrect my ritual (from previous years) of taking a look round the garden with a cup of coffee before breakfast.

To my surprise, the Swiss chard planted last summer has started to grow properly. It fared dismally last year, which I put down to perhaps slightly different soil and climatic conditions.

Well, clearly the climatic conditions are different now but the soil isn’t. But whatever the reason, I am ever so pleased I will get a crop of more than a few small leaves after all 🙂

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
