Proliferation

I didn’t noticed the rhubarb when I first arrived at Wonder World today. All I saw was weed, weed and more weed. I know why they were there – I must have disturbed the seed when I was digging.

Sadly, in one week the weeds have proliferated while there is still no sign of the spinach, parsnip and other vegetables already sown. Or if there is, I can’t distinguish it from the green from other sources.

Then I looked up: wow! The rhubarb has obviously been loving the warm (for the time of year) and wet weather.

And it isn’t just leaf growth. I picked four of the biggest stems, which have been cooked with ginger and will be much enjoyed later on 🙂

That’s the first crop of the year!

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
