Seeds at the airport

I’m missing my garden and allotment…. Never realised I was more of a country girl than a townie until I bought my house in a village outside Leeds, but being in Tokyo has certainly reminded me that cities are not everything.

Nevertheless, it is good to get away for some fresh perspectives. So, for example, at Schipol Airport (Amsterdam) I saw the following in one of the shops:

Curious as to who would buy anything from this stand. I kinda get the tulip bulbs (maybe not at airport prices – approx €20 whereas they would probably be a fiver at home). But fennel seeds?

I mention the fennel seeds as I have the exact same packet at home – sold by an Italian company no less. It certainly makes a change from Gucci handbags and aisles of perfume, though!

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
