First evening at the allotment

My daughter has a piano lesson in town on a Tuesday evening and now that it is light enough I thought would be good to spend a while at Wonder World afterwards. Well, it makes sense, doesn’t it, if I’ve got the car out and am in the vicinity 😉

Anyway, working on the fact that you’ve got to sow to grow I started with something I learned yesterday: put radish and parsnip seeds together, which helps the latter along. I’ve also sown mangetout, chamomile and lettuce, so let’s see which of those flourish.

Then of course it was time to get the spade out and do some exercise! No prizes for guessing what I was doing with it…..

Another boot load of rhubarb came home with us, which will have more than paid for the piano lesson, if not the petrol to get us there and back. So, all round I have had a successful and satisfying evening.

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
