That April feeling

For some people it is already April. And for me, it has definitely felt like April over the last couple of days. No doubt in part because I feel that 2016 has kicked in fully.

There is a sense of excitement in the air. The rhubarb is starting to show

along with self-seeded phacelia, which I will compost once it is a bit bigger.

In the herb garden, the phacelia is also growing – this time as I intended. I’m hoping that by about a month’s time, when I build the next hugel bed, it will be quite big. Then there will definitely be lots to bolster the contents of the compost bin. I’d rather put it in there than add it to the bed, as I need lots of compost for other parts of the garden.

In general, this is how the garden looks now that stuff has got going

although I am wondering when I’ll see the runner beans and other vegetables that I sowed recently.

Finally, here’s a sunset shot taken in the more picturesque part of the village. So great to see people out for walks in the evening, now it is light till past eight o’ clock, not that you can see anyone in this shot (so it’s not your eyesight!).

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
