More pleasant surprises out the front

My daughter and I were originally attracted to Lamb’s Ears because of its woolly leaves. Of the three clumps I got from my sister a few weeks ago, two seem to be failing but the other isn’t just still alive, I noticed a lovely pink flower on it the other day.

As if this wasn’t excitement enough, when I took out a couple of phacelia plants, I was in for another surprise. It looks like a rose has self-seeded in the front garden.

Time will of course tell if my identification is correct. In the meantime, I hope we have some more rain soon. A few spots came out of the blue just now but I want a good amount before I do the next round of planting in the back garden.

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
