Mint flowers

I really have no idea how mint appeared in a pot with nothing growing in it. But it has survived not being watered and now it is blooming.

I’d never seen mint in flower before, so this is another first for me. And it is yet another purple one, so I hope the bees have found it and enjoyed the pollen.

Not that they will have been out much over the last couple of days. Summer seems to be having a rest with plenty of wind to accompany the rain!

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.

  1. The Bees are gonna love that flower.

  2. And there I’ve been..watering mine..seems for nothing lol 🙂

Oh I think watering is normally a good idea. I think the roots of this mint in the pot must have gone through into the soil (same with some lemon balm next to it). I’ve got some more mint in a pot on the patio and that is suffering because it doesn’t get enough water.

  3. Awesome update Helen thank you for sharing

  4. I’ve never seen mint flower either…and we have plenty of it as it reappears year after year. It’s lovely. I’m sorry to hear that your summer is on hiatus. It’s so darn hot and smoggy here that I’m counting the days till the cooler fall prevails.

Mint certainly comes back – but I’m not complaining!

I hope it cools down for you soon, Alys. It’s warmed again to about twenty degrees here, which is an agreeable temperature, I think. The weather is truly variable in this country, so generally no pattern lasts more than a few days 😊.
