Two up together

Yesterday, I procrastinated a bit over starting work on the patio flagstones. Well, I was tired and needed a snooze in the afternoon. But then towards dusk, I found the impetus to move not just one but two flagstones from the patio to the other end of the garden.

As I’d thought, under the slabs there was no concrete, so although they were still very heavy to lift, at least they weren’t being held back by anything.

On the other hand, it seems to me that sand has been used under the slabs but I will leave a full investigation of the soil until I’ve finished the removals. It might be a case of doing a pH test as well, so that I have a better idea of what might succeed in that new growing area.

In the meantime, I’d better get eating the lettuce in the planter. For after only a week the radish have appeared!

Are they magic seeds or what?

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.
