I’ve been trying to get into a better sleep routine – summer mucks things up with it still being light at my normal bedtime but there is no excuse now!
Anyway, going to bed earlier means I can get up earlier, feeling refreshed. So this morning, I bounced out of bed at 7 and after waving my daughter off, I got straight down to pruning the crab apple tree.
As you can see, there were branches growing at the bottom of the trunk. If I had all the space in the world, I might have left them but in my garden they would become a nuisance.
So, out came the secateurs and loppers and voilĂ !
Now, I’ve got a nice stack of twigs to do a mini hugelbed in the rest of the former patio. No idea yet what is going to be planted there but at least the soil can be settling in, after I’ve taken up the sand.
