November Composting Champions workshops

No, we are not in November yet but Halloween is upon us and that means lots of opportunities to eat pumpkin. (Some great recipes are available on the Hubbub website.)

It’s also the time when most of the pumpkins that are bought for Halloween are discarded in landfill. Hence, the focus of the two workshops Leeds Rotters Composting Champions are holding on the first Friday and Saturday of the month is diverting these pumpkins to the kitchen and the compost bin.

We are hopeful of a good turnout, so if you are in the area, please do pop along.

About Helen

I have always been interesting in living a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and used to do what I could. Now, I have come to realise that we have reached such a point in terms of environmental degradation that it is more important - perhaps - to focus on building resilience. I therefore do as much as I can to reuse, grow my own and encourage a supportive community, for example. I also keep reading and learning all the time.

What a terrible waste to throw the pumpkins away!

We just enjoyed a lovely pumpkin soup Helen πŸ™‚ I buy the pumpkins and use as decoration, and cook them one by one. Delicious.
