To end on a positive note of sorts, my birds are getting tamer. Or perhaps more desperate, as the rain still does not fall. As long as I remain still, they come down to the pond right beside me, albeit ever mindful that I could in an instant turn into a rampant predatory. One of the blackbirds even continued his ablutions after I’d opened the back door, which is always a noisy affair.
