Now, I do actually like cabbage but boiled or steam every time limits the meals I feel I can have it with. Okay, there is coleslaw or other types of salad as well. But a couple of my colleagues inspired me to start experimenting, so coupled with an idea I got from when I was living in France about 10 years ago, this is what I cooked up tonight.
Ingredients
Onion – sliced
Cabbage – leaves sliced
Block of feta – chopped into pieces
Nutmeg and black pepper
Method
Fry the onion until reasonably soft, then add the cabbage with some water along with the nutmeg and black pepper and cook until the cabbage is ready. Finally, add the feta and cook until this has melted.
I served it on top of a bed of spaghetti.

Yum. π
It was great. I’ll have to make it again sometime (my cabbages this year were best eaten raw).
Looks great, somewhat Greek, will have to try it π
I hope you like it π
I haven’t grown cabbage for cooking this year, so none for me right now π¦
Do you only eat the vegetables you grow.. do you not buy any at all?
I would love to grow all my own vegetables but, alas, I don’t have the space. I try to limit the amount I buy, though, so I can’t quite bring myself to buy cabbage from my local organic farm, even though they are a different type of cabbage….
Ah, that’s a shame. We had that situation until we bought this piece of land! I know how you feel. And yes, I know that soon we’ll be loathed to buy anything haha. Especially as organic is difficult to get around here..
That’s a shame in turn. I’d love more land but then I doubt I’d have time to work it – especially right now!
I hope you can grow all your own vegetables π
Thanks, me too π
